Artist’s Statement

“I like it when someone reads my work, nods along with the story, and says, “Yes, yes, I get that.” I want my writing to connect people, to make people feel less alone, and to let the reader know there’s more than one of us, whoever you are. I like stripped-down, to-the-point, and naked prose. Read my words and feel yourself in them, it should feel like looking into a mirror. I like to make meaning from ordinary conversations and seemingly common events. I try to write what everyone is thinking but what we seldom discuss. I write nonfiction because I believe when a writer tells her truth there is beauty in the writing. Truth is quickly recognized as beauty.”
